Masks are made of Paper Clay, which is a mixture of paper and volcanic ash which comes from Japan. 

It dries hard enough so that it may be carved or sanded and  it is very light weight.

Acrylic Paint is used to color the masks and then decorations of hand-made beads, found objects and raffia are added.
